Election Time is Coming
It’s that time of year! At our next contra dance, TFOOTD will be hosting an open to the public general meeting before the dancing begins. Among the important updates and discussions will be the upcoming annual board of director elections in May. If you’re enjoying our monthly dances and want to insure that we have the help needed to continue that in this community, stay tuned for details and please be sure to attend!
Our Next Dance
Our next regular TFOOTD contra dance will be Saturday, April 12th at Town Apartments North, 1900 61st Ave N St. Petersburg, FL. As usual, beginner instructions will start at 7:00pm, with experienced dancers encouraged to help during that brief introductory period. The dancing will then continue until 10:30pm, with additional instructions given as needed for moves that may be less familiar to newer folks.
Update on Dance Schedule & Venues
Since we have not had a regular dance venue following last year’s hurricanes, the TFOOTD board has secured alternate venues and dates for our upcoming dances through May, as listed below and posted in our calendar. Talent (bands and callers) for these dances have all been booked now as well and are listed in the calendar through that point.
Now, however, the good news is that we are back to having a regular dance schedule and regular dance venues contracted for the remainder of 2025. The Polish American Society officially opened back up just this past March. After our previously contracted dances are finished in May, we will resume contra dancing at the Polish America Society every second Saturday of the month from 7:00-10:30pm for the remainder of this year.
Since the Gulfport Casino will still not be available for the foreseeable future, the TFOOTD board has decided to contract with the Bayou Dance Club to hold our normal 4th Sunday afternoon contra dances from 3:30pm-7:00pm at their venue for the remainder of 2025.
Now that these dates and venues have been secured, Sue Stanczyk, our super talented talent coordinator, will begin securing bands and callers through the remainder of the year as well. These will all be posted on our Event Calendar as soon as possible.
